MC-W1SH: @Gomenasai: I knew it was gonna happen after seeing humanize Sunset Shimmer. Sighs. And I wouldn't be surprised if Twilight's boyfriend gets married to her, and he becomes the new Prince.
Meh, I couldn't care less about the show nowadays.
G_Goobington_the_2nd: First Equestria Girls 34 since the trailer was revealed, and the image where we discuss our thoughts on it. Spoilers ensue.
My first thoughts: we are now a fandom that has to wrap its heads around alternate realities. First we had stable time loops, and now we've got alternate realities and (presumably) split timelines. We're playing with the big boys now when it comes to weird canon.
The other thing that struck me as interesting was that this is a world where they have pony-esque names, technicolor skin, and cutie marks (albeit in a different form). Everything that makes them My Little Ponies is still present (minus the whole pony form thing).
The book I saw in the trailer suggests that the Equestrian ponies are a thing known of by people in wherever the movie takes place. This world also contains human versions the ponies. This leads me to believe that if they explain all this and flesh it out properly, there's the potential setup for something deeper than "FiM, but with humans in high school".
A caveat that no doubt will be a cause of doubt, even for me. As much as I liked MMC, I will freely admit that it doesn't really work on a logical level. The Crystal Empire was Meghan's chance to show off her ability to creatively weave new elements into an existing world. She had all the pieces in place to do something interesting with the Empire and its residents, and we get little more than "these are things that exist, you figure it out". I hate to admit it, but I'm less than optimistic about them going into depth about the nature of this alternate reality.
However, I'm curious to see how this turns out and what they do with it. I'm wondering if they're going to play the whole high school angle completely straight, or if they're building up to a giant twist, and planning something radical in the third act.
What we have is the stereotypical Queen Bee, and a reality with aspects uncannily similar to those of Equestria. I recall reading that Sunset Shimmer was one of Celestia's students. Her name and personality are clearly meant to establish her as some sort of Anti-Twilight. I'm gambling on the outside chance that Sunset Shimmer actually took over this alternate reality in order to create some kind of domain for her to rule over, while plotting her revenge on Equestria.
Other than that, my expectations are pretty low. This puts me in the position to be pleasantly surprised. I hope they do something really cool with the whole alternate reality business. If it does fail, I just hope it fails in such a way that we can just ignore it.
bAv-R34: @G_Goobington_the_2nd: I myself am just very, very worried as to how this will all end up. I don't care about the whole autism aspect that this will have, because I can just escape since nobody will be forcing me to watch it. [hopefully.] All in all, it's like back in the day when I discovered the show- I was worried as to how it turned out.
I just hope that the animators know what they're doing. I'm too anxious about this whole thing.
it was the worst for me when I found out, I was drunk off my ass and some faggot started streaming the trailer out of nowhere in the PRONZ chat. I was fucking terrified.
Anonymous4: I have high hopes after watching the trailer, and the only reason S3 sucked was because of the finale, but alicorn Twi wasn't why it sucked, it was just too many songs, not enough story
Anonymous6: Sunset Shimmer and Twilight Sparkle? Rivals? Man, I think they're competing for Celestia instead of themselves for Equestria. Although. The show doesn't really concentrate for us, Bronies. Hasbro will not change it's priorities. It will continue on for the little girls to watch.

Eh, whatever. To me the show officially ended at S3.
