Anonymous1: I believe that Food Fight! actually takes place in a man's insane world after endless and unspeakable pain. Dog Dextective is merely a self-insert in a world of idealised delusion. But it is not perfect, as some "leaks" happen that link reality from this man's delusion.
Dog Dextective is a dog, yet his main love interest is a mascot for a brand of raisins and his closest friend is chocolate, both of which are poisonous for dogs. Yet neither of them aknowledge it. His villains are stereotypical and a caricature of nazis, the go-to bad guys. They only exist simply to cause conflict for the hero to rise up against and save the day. The characters are all brand mascots, characters that have no character; Only meant to symbolize something without going past it, one that does not have free will and changes only to the whims of those who use it. The presentation is half baked. There are no crowds, everything's plain and flat, the world is uniform only distorting when truly needed, movements are unrealistic amongst many other thing.
He lives in a world of absolute uninventiveness and lack of self awareness, because he is as well. He treats and depicts his suffering as love, because that's what he wants to think that's what love is. His world is filled with corporate creations without soul, because he has yet to ever see a soul.
He denies it all as he descends further into his utopian nightmare, clear for all of us to see.
