OnyxSwift: I'm not sure what you mean by "generic farmer's daughter type of girl," to be honest. If you mean a girl who's promiscuous behind her daddy's back, then no, partially because, y'know, Nintendo.

In Ocarina of Time, she's the first friend Link makes after leaving the Kokiri Forest, and she's a spunky little ball of sunshine who loves singing and taking care of animals.

After Link's seven year nap, you find she's grown up depressed, because her family's ranch was taken over by the whiny (forty-something) stable boy, who kicked her father out, makes her do all the work by threatening to abuse the horses and forbids her from singing.

After the whiny stable boy snaps out of his assholish, whiny nature because Link stole a horse, while she's not back to the giggle machine she was when she was ten, she does regain a cheery, youthful spirit, and while it's not stated anywhere, it's pretty heavily implied that she and Link end up getting married.
