Yes. Bandar-log = The Monkey People. Disney's Jungle Book uses Kipling's story "Kaa's Hunting" as the primary adventure. Both groups of monkeys are depicted as goofy and useless. Disney's monkeys have what were stylish haircuts for young men in the late 60s because kids today! Both versions have the lost city, but in the book Kaa is Mowgli's ally. Check out the remarkable Soviet Russian "Mowgli" animations for a very-faithful and stylized cover of all Kipling's Mowgli stories.
