Anonymous1: Nope, it was always intended to be Bartz. Butz was just a mistranslation by the fan-translation group because the "ar" sound and the short "u" sound (as in 'smut') are both represented with an "ah" sound in Japanese.

Anonymous2: Actually, his name is spelled as "Butz" in Dissidia. If you have a match against him, the screen will say "VS. Butz".
