Anonymous3: pro tip to all artists - If you want to not piss people off, draw your OC's fucking anyone but the characters loved by thousands of people that you are trying to then impeach on.
Faptacular: Depending on how it's drawn tends to alter the annoyance level.
Too many flourishes and whatnot (overly complicated cutie mark in the case of normal ponies, scars, worn accessories, etc) tend to come off as trying to hard or out right going: "This is my character and their fucking the canon characters IT'S AWESOME!" Most of the hate I think comes from this mentality.
In the case of outright using your own fursone just irritates the fuck out of a lot of us for pretty much the same reason as above combined with the douchey nature of implying that you honestly think you have a shot with a character beloved by who knows how many people.
If it's more generic it's not as bad and I tend to think the artist just didn't like pairing them with another canon character for a ship they just don't support or creating a crack-ship for the sake of a joke.

Personally, OC's and mane cast don't bother me, let them get a little action lol.
