Anonymous5: Well, technically Illithids have no gender (despite what you might see here ^_^);
I get the feeling this is an illithid who has a secret fetish to be a woman, and has just been 'caught in the act' by one of those pesky human fighters that invade their domain from time to time :-)
Pangolinx: This is like a reversed "Mirror shows your true self" thing, because the mind flayer in the reflection doesn't looks so bad, but the one closest to the guy's perspective is lumpy, wrinkly and has saggy tits.
Anonymous7: Holy shit, that's Evem's Mirror of Enviable Image, from The Book of Wondrous Inventions! It's a mirror that hides all your flaws and displays an illusory reflection that appears as if you were really beautiful. Kind of a pointless gimmick object, but a neat bit of flavor for any D&D world.
That raises a thought: should the mirror be tagged? It's a goofy magic item, not a character, but there's lots of inanimate objects already tagged. Eh.. I don't know.
