Anonymous4: @HernsHound: Exactly what I was thinking. The clear lines, the colour....fab. BB does it again (do a version of Yaroze's latest, BB) But try to make cum LOOK like cum, not milk or rice pudding, mate....
Senator_Palpatine: BB - you should leave a little note saying who did the originals you edit so divinely - you haven't thus far. BUT you do improve them ALL dramatically, so I forgive ! Doubt if the original artists will though.
BadBrains: The comments and "critiques" are half the fun of posting anything here.
This is cartoon porn people, not fine art lol.
With that said, My excuse for editing/re-lining/re-coloring others work, is that I'm a lefty using a mouse with my right hand as most lefties have learned to do. Until I get a Wacom pad, I doubt I'll do any original sketches.
It has however developed my skills with the program I use, Paint Tool SAI.
Someone commented on another pic that it was a point where my material got better. I would hope so. If an artist's material is not developing or getting better then they are not trying. They've fallen into a style that they're comfortable with or are being lazy. Maybe they're just not into that piece, in which case why post it. Why push out half-assed work.
HernsHound and Anon3 mention her head and neck proportions. True, her head is a little big and neck a little stretched. Proportions on a cartoon are a little more open to interpretation. This isn't photo-realism. I was trying to make her head work with the original's mouth.
My track record with pictures I edit is that if I don't finish it the day I start it, it never gets worked on again. So even though I noticed exactly what you said, as I was making it, I moved on with the next process. Each piece to me is just something to do. The whole process is an exercise in linework, coloring, shading, texturing, etc.
Like I said, cartoon porn, not fine art.
The only critiques I would even give any second thought too, would be one coming from another artist. Not only will those comments have more validity, but they themselves will be open to criticism.
HernsHound: @BadBrains - Cool. Sounds like you and I may have inhabited some of the same sand. Didn't see Kosovo, but was boots on ground in Kuwait and Iraq for the first Gulf war and in Northern Iraq working with the Kurdish population for this one. Never made it to Afghanistan.
And sorry I can't give you an artists perspective on your work; I can't even draw stick figures without them looking fucked up. I'm more of a writer.
BadBrains: Never saw land, I was a Hornet mechanic. Entire Kosovo conflict '99, Afghan first strikes in '01, and Iraq shock and awe in '03. In Iraq we covered Baghdad and North, so maybe they dropped some warheads on foreheads for you, if that was your time frame. Crossed over to the Bees, but never deployed with them.
Senator_Palpatine: @BadBrains: Er....and this has WHAT to do with your wonderful erotic stuff, mate ? Didn't need a life story of artists, but sort of interesting. Bet you army/navy/air force types regret assisting muslims in Kosovo, what the bastards have done since. They've even murdered the very US soldiers and sailors (and British forces) in other countries. Usual muslim way of thanking non-muslims. The Serbs SAID this would happen, and they were RIGHT (God - I'm getting as much off the subject as your good self !)
Senator_Palpatine: @HernsHound: Yeah, me too - can't do art to an extent, not up to BB's high stadard - nowhere near. And write a bit, and quite erotic, but not confident enough in the stories flow to show to others.
I leave that to people with more ability (like BB)
Senator_Palpatine: That should be CAN do art to an extent (but not to BB's high standard) and not confident enough in flow of stories - I really should check I didn't catch wrong keys before posting
HernsHound: BB- SeaBees huh? That's where I started out at, as a BU in NMCB 133 back in early '88. Did a few deploys with the Bees, but nothing heavy until Desert Storm. I got out of the Bees though and into Subs, then Aviation (P-3/C-130s) as well as SPECOPS support (I'm nuts, but only to a point). As for Iraq, I was up in the north much later, working with the Kurds on keeping the borders secured (they're the only ones over there that I trusted among the indigpop).
Anonymous6(4): @HernsHound: Interesting that. And it seems that the Kurds are the only muslims who aren't forever plotting against the west (entirely down to the Saudis and their wahabbi psycopathic bigots)
Anonymous7: @BadBrains: Yeah, but, even so, SOME people would rather BITCH, and, complain about something someone else did, than go that far, and, at least DO SOMETHING even marginally as Constructive!!
Anonymous8: @BadBrains: Tracing? You just slapped on Lois' head over Aeolus06's work and even had the nerve to put your own logo on the artwork (at least put credit on the ACTUAL artwork itself, not in the comments). Never mind this not being fine art, it's just a kick in the balls to the original artist. If you want to see Lois giving a tittyjob, ask the artist himself who can actually make it properly.
BadBrains: Why are you so butt-hurt anonymous person?
Yeah, I slapped her head on. Then re-lined the entire thing, colored, and shaded.
At that point, there wasn't one pixel left that was Aeolus'.
Same thing as drawing from a still life or picture isn't it?
If someone re-drew one of mine and was all their lines and colors I wouldn't want my name on it.
If you re-painted a Picasso would you put Picasso's signature on it?
No, you would post it and acknowledge that it was from Picasso's work, but not a Picasso.
Anonymous9(8): @BadBrains: I think it's the fact that you're not displaying your true potential. It's easy enough to trace someone else's work to claim it as your own, but in the end, it just looks sloppy. Take the drawing above for example, the proportions of her neck look really odd, and the fingers clearly don't bare any resemblances to Family Guy, and are out of character. Even though you re-lined this, it still looks like Aeolus' work, aside from the head. From almost all your pieces of work you've drawn, I could tell they were edits or redrawn (before you posted the source) because the style always varied.
Yeah, I guess I'm a little butt-hurt, it just boggles my mind why so much people praise you for your "talent" when you pretty much trace it all. Making your own original pieces would be a MUCH better direction for you, although, I don't know what your motive for drawing these are, whether it's for fun or if you wan't to become a better artist etc. Either way, it's quite clear people enjoy these pictures, even if they're traced, so I'm not gonna stop you.
I see so much potential if you were to create your own original pieces, but I doubt anyone cares about my opinion. Boo-hoo, right?
BadBrains: I'll get to the point of doing more of my own. I explained it above, that I'm a lefty using my right hand with a mouse. When I get a Wacom I'll be able to sketch. These are strictly for fun and practice.
