BRYONO: @GingerAle: The book and the timeline was set back a bit farther before we had anything close to as advanced as society today. The book was written around the 1940s and were supposed to be similar to the author and just taken to a bit more with the jungle, talking animals and such. So marriage even at their age would be normal since they wouldn't normally live to be a ripe old age if you don't have medicine and other things that help us live. So... It wouldn't be odd to them but odd to us nowadays since they can't really get married that young unless they were in India and was usually arranged by the parents. Well still is depending on their Class level.
