Franky_Whiskey: @HiddenD: Grape Kun was an old Humboldt penguin that lived in the zoo of Saitama prefecture, Japan. In the last year of his life, the zoo decided to add cutouts of characters from Kemono Friends, the one in his enclosure was of Hululu, a penguin.
He grew immensely attached to it. He died of old age, but not before believing in love. He passed away dreaming of an afterlife with his waifu.
datnonymous: @HiddenD: A zoo puts up cut outs of Kemono Friends characters in the pens of animals that a character is based off of as a promotional thing. Grape-kun fell in love with the character Hululu that was put up in the penguin pen and would spend all his time with her and bring her food and stuff (courting behavior of penguins). All other penguins ignored the cut out. After the promotion ends they take down the cut outs and Grape falls into a deep depression and his physical state worsens. The story catches everyone's interest and people demand he be given back his waifu and the zoo gets permission to put the cut out back up and Grape's condition improves and he goes on being a happy little penguin with his anime waifu. Few days ago Grape's condition drastically worsens and he eventually dies of old age(he was already over 20 years old, which is their usual lifespan). Zookeepers removed Hululu from her usual place and placed her to be with Grape-kun in his last moments to comfort him. He died by her side.
Gelgono: @Anonymous:Considering that the original staff probably won't be back for S2 (see the whole KADOKAWA shit going on) I don't think that will happen.
RNG_Champion: @Anonymous: People who usually waste their time bickering over anime are too stupid to realize that people who like anime won't just suddenly stop because some nobody on the internet told them to.
RIP Grape-kun, you lived a long life you lucky penguin.
Anonymous21: Was not expecting a Featured Image to ever have so many feels behind it. 3:
Didn't know about this story till now, but damn I'm happy I do.
Anonymous33: I don't get why people are upset. Penguins die every day. People didn't even knoe of the penguin till now and they're treating it like a God. Honestly don't understand why this is trending.
Anonymous42: Rest in peace my sweet prince, you and your waifu can now live peacefully in heaven without anyone saying anything about it... this penguin knew a 2D waifu was better that 3D girls... R.I.P my boi
Anonymous44: When I first saw the featured image I was like what's this, then I remembered about Grape-kun, It hit me so hard knowing that he passed away. *R.I.P Grape-kun, may you and Hululu be in heaven together*
Anonymous59: Rest in fucking peace you beautiful bird bastard. May your legend shine on as a prime example that 2D girls are infact better than real ones.
Anonymous61: Woah. Look at all these people getting in an argument that has no realistic bearing on anyone’s life! Perhaps you should get into politics. I feel as though you’d both feel at home there.
Anonymous65: @Anonymous: It's not yours to decide, now is it? You can't even spell "hentai" (which is Japanese aka "weeb", according to you, BTW) right, ya fuckin' idiot.
Anonymous67(55): This website can't decide if it's a joke website or an actual porn site, either host proper hentai or fucking cartoon shit, make up your mind.
Farfegnugen: @Anonymous: This is a serious website about serious anime porn. This image of a anime girl crying for a dead penguin is very serious. I hope this sets you straight.
Anonymous73: I feel like the beauty of Grape-kun's story is that he felt real feels for what the rest of us saw as a cardboard cutout of an anthro penguin, which is a lot more than can be said about anyone elses actual love-story (probably met her drunk in a bar, also drunk, and then they had sex and hated each other afterwards, cue endless arguments and child services)
At least, I'll choose to believe that Grape loved Hululu...
toradrow777: Far too late did I discover this modern day love story, for now our brave hero has passed on before I could ever see him in person. Sayonara, Grape-kun, and godspeed, where ever you are.
Anonymous79: >Ghost Grape-kun still has his wing tag
Must be the animal equivalent of a ghost only being able to appear dressed in the clothes they died in?
Anonymous86: Grape-kun. If you're watching and reading from above, HULULU WILL ALWAYS HOLD YOU AND NEVER LEAVE YOU. GO FORTH TO THE HOLY POLAR CAPS SIDE BY SIDE; LIVE BEYOND YOUR FANTASY DREAMS!!
Inocencius: Beyond the erotic, this eventually represents several problems, namely:
1. That in the penguin (with very specific characteristics of his life) is the last manifestation, in the amorous representation of an anime printed in 2D with detailed colors and attributes, although it is not a penguin completely. Or this represents an internal mechanism to avoid emotional collapse, that is to say, the hope in an object not actually existent (understood here, to avoid the series of problem that this implies: effectively existent as physical relation and development of the same properly human not divided into non-common properties) or another explanation focused on the pecularities of bird vision. The latter seems unlikely.
2. That said affective relationship is not different from the human one and that in the last case, it is so sad - apparently - in animals.
I hope future cases will occur in similar conditions with other animals, although I do not consider this to be animal proof of conscience, it must be more than mere mechanicism. Perhaps the curiosity is in the interaction of new realities not common, just as we with the waifus; just like the penguin with the girl.
