Anonymous1: I would love to see this incarnation of Masters’ take on She-Ra and just how less girly they’d make her than the already clearly androgynous Netflix version.
Anonymous2: @Anonymous1 It would be great, but I don't think it will ever happen. This quality of animation is expansive and they probably tried to appeal to 30-40y old fans, who can pay expansive collector toys. However, I don't think many old fans will like this incarnation, because Teela was made extremly unlikable. And look at Evil-Lyn... why is a spellcaster super-muscular? Anyway, without sales, they won't produce more high quality content.
Anonymous3(1): @Anonymous: The old fans are pretty much the ones you want on your side. They’re the ones that’ve stuck around for years, probably bought their shit and would likely happily praise and push your new stuff if they like it. This mentality of bringing back something old and pushing away the crowd that’s waited and was ready for it for a new audience that have no love or loyalty for the name prior and don’t care just doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me.
And yeah, the product is in many ways kind of shite but really the way the people behind it sort of sold their product and dismissed complaints and criticisms sort of made the situation worse. It’s the same old story about shifting blame and accepting no responsibility for mistakes made and failures. If they have any intent to self-correct, they show no signs of it and it’s hard to take their word at face value when they’ve been proven to use the corporate language of spin and bullshitting. Simply put, if you’re a salesman and people know you to be rude, dishonest, insulting, disrespectful, etc. than chances are they’re not gonna come to you when they’re looking to buy. They’ll take their business elsewhere. Seriously, if these creatives worked retail or service, they’d get shitcanned so goddamn fast or make nothing because of commissions and tips and so on.
Anonymous4(1): @atozed: Well, the 200X series showed that he was a jacked guy who got his face jacked up and was kept alive by magic. And I’d argue that people who have nothing in their lives and either don’t care or possibly taking delight in someone else having something they grew up with and have fond memories of and hold dear being dismantled, desecrated and disrespected much worse. Like if it weren’t for “nostalgic crybabies”, do you honestly think the rights to Star Wars would have been valued and purchased for 4 billion? These characters, worlds and works of fiction clearly means and is worth something to someone, otherwise they’d just leave it be like so many other properties that were left behind.
johnny-topside: Not crazy about the new designs but I'll give it a chance, never seen anything bad yet from Powerhouse. I just hope it renews some artist/fan interest, considering how long Masters has been around it's amazing there's not porn of it out there. And especially my girl Evil-Lyn. The show's been out since 1983, and we're weighing in at 200-300 pics a piece on these characters on the high end? People have no fucking taste
Anonymous6: First time I clicked on an image JUST to read the comments. Yes the show failed to appeal to OG fans for the obvious reasons and nobody from the new targeted demographic like it enough to watch it. Maybe Kevin Smith should have the show about He-man instead of killing him twice.
Anonymous7: @appealus: Muscular women ain’t the problem. Chun-Li, She-Hulk, the Amazon from Dragon’s Crown and Captain Mizuki from One-Punchman are all pretty ripped individuals I’d say but by in large are still appealing to a lot of people. And that’s probably because they still look like women. That’s why I personally never understood this fear of strong women argument I keep hearing like a broken record. Men don’t seem to hate tough gals as much as feminists seem to hate inherently feminine qualities. Like a woman can be as tough, virtuous and courageous as can be but if enough dudes want to bang her because she looks a certain way than she’s problematic or something. All those admirable qualities rendered null and void because a dude can still get a stiffy to her.
Anyway, this series is kinda doomed anyway. It has as much legs as He-Man does in that CGI show he has coming.
appealus: "feminists seem to hate inherently feminine qualities" Those are Misandrists you're talking about. Feminism isn't about hating Men. It never has been and until that's understood there will always be a disconnect.
Anonymous8(7): @appealus: Well, unfortunately some ideals and movements can be taken and adopted by less than savoury people out to further their own thing. I don’t doubt there are people who genuinely want equality but obviously there are people who just want to be in the driver’s seat instead.
