Anonymous1: I dont know wuts sadder, the fact that the movie was made, or the fact that 90% of the peoples who "know" about it, heard it from south park.
Anonymous4: To be honest, I liked the sequel better than the original.
The original had some awesome stories, and all, it was just too all over the place. The second picked up nicely with a shard of the orb remaining, and carried out a massive story about even just that being enough.
Anonymous9: I didn't even know that South Park referenced that movie. But then again, I don't really follow SP anyway.
Storytelling-wise, the first movie seemed more interesting but, because I was young when I watched it (and also because the plot was all over the place, like Anon4 said), it seemed a little too hard to follow at times.
Now the 2nd one was a little more standard-ish somewhat, so it was much easier to keep track of what was going on.
Anonymous13: You won't really understand the first film unless you're familiar with the magazine. HM is an anthology that features many different works each issue, so it's always a kaleidoscopic feast for the eyes. The movie roughly mirrors the experience of reading a typical issue of the magazine, except it attempts to link all of the stories together. But never mind, the point of Heavy Metal isn't the story--it's a celebration of the talent and imaginations of the contributors.
Awesome Episode, Awesome Movie.
And Julie Strain = Hotness
Even just a voice and drawing of her is greatness.
