Silent_Witness: @PinkBallons: Based on this fandom's views, it seems the only thing OCs deserve is violent, bloody disembowelment for daring to presume they can even share the same world as a canon character.
Silent_Witness: @PinkBallons: So, OCs should be sequestered away from all primary, secondary, and tertiary characters so that they can't contaminate the purity that is the canon... hm, that just gave me an idea for a new story.
Anonymous3: OC's can be and do whatever the hell they want, because they aren't real. If this guy wants a Twilight pussy cake, he'll get it, and good on him for doing so XD
PinkBallons: @Anonymous: Sure they can, but they should be willing to accept the consequences if they decide to share their idiocy with the real world.
Okay_with_this: @Anonymous: It's not the heterochromia that bothers me, it's the fact that the OC's creator saw the need to make is OC even "more special"
Anonymous6: In Siberwar's defence, I've never seen him draw his own OC involved in porn with canon characters. I blame Atryl, a picture of Twilight alone in a cake with a B-day message would do just fine without any personal stuff like OCs. Never liked him much anyway..
As I do easily by saying "I don't care, since you're not the one drawing it, and you're not the one paying for it. This picture isn't for you anyway."
They have a right to create it, just as you have a right to bitch. Only difference is that your bitching doesn't do anything. At least the art is being productive lol
PinkBallons: @Anonymous: Here's my question: If it isn't for me, why is it on the internet in the first place? Why would anyone besides the creator of the OC and the artist give a fuck?
Maybe it's there for the people who know these characters aren't real, and just want to enjoy the picture for the sake of it being there? Believe it or not, not every looks at these and hisses like a vampire looking at a cross because it contains an OC character. You're obviously just bored or something that you feel the need to constantly post your distaste towards these pictures, thinking that by some MAGCIAL chance the people making them will listen to you :P
PinkBallons: @Anonymous: It's not so much about being heard as it is about venting our frustration. Yeah, it's very unlikely that anyone involved in the making of the pic will see our comments, and even more unlikely that they will care.
We're fans of FiM, its characters, and the reality it is set in; we don't come to Paheal to see OC's.
On a side-note: You don't have to be such a douche about this.
jubilation_t_cornpone: The people involved in the making of the pic will keep making them. Other people will keep uploading them here (they either like the fan characters or, like Executioner, care about nothing other than upload count). They are legal on the site if there is an established character in the frame. The continuous complaints about them, like the complaints about gay, furry, attractive and successful Africans, dickgirls, scat, and everything else are like dupes and other invalid pics: they take up space on the server without benefit to anyone.
CrotchboobAddict: but you should be able to have an opinion on a certain pic, positive or negative feedback should not matter.. I'm open with my dislike of OC's and furries
Nor do you, but that's both our rights, now isn't it? You complain about the OC's, I complain about your complaining. Especially when you mark characters you know nothing about as crap, even the ones that look semi normal just because the owner wants to see them working out a fantasy involving their favorite characters. It's not like you're seeing them fucking in the real cartoon. Therefor, said OC's are just non-canon fantasy to fiction. So there's no need, as many people put it, to get your "jimmies" all worked up. Relax and just enjoy the fact people are even making this stuff :P
PinkBallons: @Anonymous: Don't you think I would do that if I could? Trust me, I've tried to no avail. OC's piss me off, they always have and they always will. As long as I have the option I will complain about them.
@jubilation_t_cornpone: So what comments do benefit others, exactly? Why not just disable them if they're such a waste of space? You said yourself that you enjoy these conversations; is that not a benefit?
Anonymous11: I view OC's as the point where someone has officially attempted to delude reality and try to form their own warped reality in their mind. Attracted to cartoon pony? Make OC representing yourself to have sex with that pony. Because the OC represents you, you are basically fucking that cartoon horse and all your dreams have come true! I know most people who are fans of this show are already socially awkward or have some kind of mental deficiency, but for whatever reason, OCs just take it to a whole new level.
Basically, OC's represent the most pathetic people I can imagine. Just my two cents for those wondering how anyone can possibly hate an OC. Nothing personal, just how I view this type of thing.
atryl: You guys take this shit too seriously. The guy had birthday, his fav pony is Twiligth Sparkle so there it is. It's a gift glob damn it. You think too much.
jubilation_t_cornpone: @PinkBallons: What comments do benefit others? The ones that are entertaining or provide information pertinent to the pic or fandom.
Yes, the foaming at the mouth about fan characters is entertaining---in a funny-once sort of way. Over and over, not so much.
Sometimes fan characters ARE necessary. In Brandy and Mr. Whiskers, there are only three characters worth fucking. Brandy, Tiffany, and Sandy. The rest are shit. Fan characters give a little variety.
jubilation_t_cornpone: @Anonymous: Not all fan characters are "yourself". As I said, sometimes it's to have new people to fuck. To use the Brandy example again, >>512655
PinkBallons: @jubilation_t_cornpone: In a show like that I can see how OC's would be helpful, but in FiM where there are over 600 characters, most of them with absolutely no canon personality to get in the way? What's the point besides self-insert bullshit?
PinkBallons: @jubilation_t_cornpone: Exactly. I've come across OC's that I like; the problem is that the vast majority are unbearable...Like this one. Maybe I'm being too picky, but that's just how I am.
jubilation_t_cornpone: What I'm saying is: in these arguments (if they have to exist), don't even use the term "OC". Refer to them as Mary Sues, since that is what you are really angry about.
PinkBallons: Yeah, I tend to generalize when I've given up on a group so completely. That's probably a good idea; if nothing else than for the sake of reducing confusion.
PinkBallons: @Anonymous: See, that's the kind of generalization that Jubes is trying to avoid. Not all people with OC's draw them with canon characters.
And no, I personally would never do that. It would be extremely hypocritical, considering how much I hate seeing it.
atryl: Oh no no... You misunderstood me. I made it as a gift for THAT guy on the picture. Means: I don't care if you like it or not, I made it for him and not for the fandom. I don't even mix OC and canon stuff, only when I do commissions, but from myself... Nah. And what is this 'maybe you don't think enough' thing? Dude, Let me draw what I want okay? If you don't like something turn your head away and do something else, it's funny when haters invest so much energy into hating. Maybe you have too much time :)
jubilation_t_cornpone: @Anonymous: That simply isn't true. Look at the Brandy Harrington fan characters that I linked to earlier. They're from stories by jackrabbit, taking place after Brandy has been rescued from the rainforest and is back in Palm Beach. There are FOUR fancharacters. Do you think they are ALL supposed to represent jackrabbit? So please drop the "every OC is a mary sue" shit. They aren't always self insertions.
PinkBallons: @atryl: No, I understood you.
"I don't even mix OC and canon stuff" So what, this isn't from you, then? You said this was a gift, not a commission.
I was just saying I doubt he would appreciate all the shit his OC is getting due to this pic. This image has the potential of making a single person happy, but it draws attention to him as well; quite possibly unwanted attention. Not having the OC in it or sending it to him privately would have been better options in my opinion.
I'm not trying to stop you from drawing whatever you want. If you're willing to piss people off then by all means, continue.
Anonymous16(13): @jubilation_t_cornpone: Ok, but that is uncommon. And most of those characters end up as mary sues even if they aren't supposed to represent someone specific.
jubilation_t_cornpone: @PinkBallons: For this discussion, gift and commission are interchangable. The point was "drawing something according to what a particular person would like", as opposed to "drawing what I like".
PinkBallons: [url=site://post/view/908895#c3084285]@jubilation_t_cornpone[/url: That depends on the situation though, does it not? While a commission is a specific request, gifts are often spontaneous and the receiver has no say in the matter.
jubilation_t_cornpone: @Anonymous: So? You said "every OC". EVERY. That is the part that is not true. As I said earlier, it's more precise if you simply rant about "mary sue ponies".
jubilation_t_cornpone: @PinkBallons: I said "what a person would like", not what he explicitly asked for. What kind of gift would it be if he deliberately drew something he didn't think the person would like?
It's still can be different from what he likes to draw in general.
jubilation_t_cornpone: @Anonymous: Also, I'm not sure you understand the concept of a mary sue. By definition, it's supposed to represent someone specific.
PinkBallons: @jubilation_t_cornpone: True, I guess. Although I wouldn't create something I didn't approve of, not everyone shares the same opinions I do.
Hierolocc: Admittedly, I can stomach well-made Original Characters in stories and art. Some of the best ponyfications I've seen overflow with the things, but they are always well made and interesting.
What I don't like, is when somebody plops their Arse-Ugly, detestible, unexplained OC into a picture fucking a canon character. I've read clopfics with OCs before, and so long as the character is given a real personality and is likeable by my standards, then I can like it too.
You must account for personal taste of course, but sometimes the OCs look like MS/GS stereos, and are absolutely BORING. No story, no personality, no nothin'.
Comissions are remissible because really, if you're willing to pay for that picture, and if you're willing to be paid for that picture, that is really between you. Still, it doesn't excuse poor character development.
So for me, I guess its more about the intent and execution of the pic. If it is Cruel and pointless, I won't like it; if its some horrible dog thing with pickles growing on its lips and anorexia fucking Rainbow Dash, I won't like it either. If its a well drawn, well characterized OC in a...feasible situation, then hell, I can accept that usually.
Hierolocc: This picture is light-hearted and nonsensical in both execution and intent; hell, it was a gift. The OC is (I think) a representation of an artist who's work I enjoy a good bit, and not meant to be some self insert. So I don't mind this one that much really.
Anonymous17: This needs an example of a Mary Sue apparently.
Nyx.
That annoying freaking fanfic series, which for some reason totally escaping me, lots of people like. Insert character who is loved by fucking everyone.

And would you really draw fictional porn of yourself and someone you're interested in.. That could make you into Chris-Chan.
