Lapp: I know a lot of people don't like 0r0, but his stuff is too good for me to hold anything against him. I mean, sure, he does something (i.e. OC inserts) that I don't necessarily like, but does so in a way I love. That Diamond Dog butt. <3
PinkBallons: Personally I'd rather see art made by someone I like, or at the very least can tolerate. A person's personality rubs off on everything they make to some degree, and that ruins their work for me.
Roflcakes: @PinkBallons: Yep. True dat. There's no denying 0r0 is a fantastic artist but I get douche chills every time I see that fucking "badass" rabbit.
Lapp: @PinkBallons: Understandable, but I've always made a habit of separating an artist from their person and works. Like, whenever I submit writing anywhere, I hate to receive praise for my person, but enjoy seeing my writing receive praise entirely separately from myself. So I can both appreciate 0r0's work and him as an artist, even if not him as a person, which weighs heavily enough for my tastes. And I don't know him well enough to say that he really is a prick or whatever. I know plenty of music producers/DJ's that act extremely prideful when expected to but are as grounded a person as the next. It's my understanding that American society applauds boastfulness and pride when it has foundation, which is why many professors loathe the passive voice, which isn't as overbearing or obnoxious as the active voice. (Mind my bias, haha, I write almost solely in the passive voice out of demeanour, don't know if it shows in internet-writing, though.)
Where it comes to your decision is whether or not you feel he has enough foundation to be as boastful as he is, which it's only imaginable that this is where our feelings differ. :0
Lapp: @PinkBallons: I never do for myself; it's why I tend towards passive voice. In essay or rhetoric, I'll present my points and feelings and they'll generally be accepted because they--and themselves alone, in no relation to an audience's perception of myself--will be accepted because they're simply "good", rather than convincing an audience that I'm a stand-up citizen or some bullshit.
But holding people to standards I hold myself always has failed, so it's pointless. This is where the last vestige of relevance is lost, but: the last time I brought this up was in a conversation concerning cannibalism in the case of a zombie apocalypse. I figured that while I would never eat another person out of principle, I really don't care if other people were to eat other people, so long as they eat neither me nor someone who I explicitly care for. Point is that in my odd, odd mindset, I can tolerate 0r0's general douchebaggery because he's good at it. Life would have most of us believe that 95% of men and women are utter scumbags, which I doubt less and less everyday, but in objectivity I admit that plenty of those scumbags live happier and more meaningful lives than me, so I'm in no place to say they're doing something wrong.
(Sorry if this seems aggressive at all; I'm a touch analytical by nature. ;c )
PinkBallons: @Lapp: Lol yes, yes you are analytical; and no, that wasn't aggressive. Aggressive is insulting, having a conversation with someone is not.
I rarely care what other people do or say unless I perceive it to be selfish, or if it hurts someone I care about. When it comes to the internet, I'll often speak out when I think something is "wrong," but irl I'm far more likely to just smile and nod.
As far as scumbags go, I'd like to think it depends more on the situation than the people involved.
Anonymous2: Just fap to it, you babies. This isn't debate club, where the subject pertains to erotic art illustrators; This is paheal where you're commenting on a /63/ image of a Diamond Dog. :u
