NobleR2096: "A what if - Jean uses the Phoenix Force in a very different way in Charles' mindscape as part of an alternative strategy to defeat Apocalypse"
Anonymous2: I wonder what Sansa scene made them think she’d make a good Jean. Was it her nice little scenes with the Hound? A beastly, violent man with a bit of a heart. Like if she ever had to work opposite of a Logan or someone in the future.
Could it be her wearing that dress after helping Little Finger and looking almost like she’s headed for a heel turn? Not hard to picture a Hellfire Club or Dark Phoenix thing with that.
Or it could be her fainting after the execution. If you’re gonna be Jean, you need to be able to fall over unconscious. That and shout out Scott.
NobleR2096: @Anonymous: With a better script, yeah, I think she could have been a pretty good Jean. Apocalypse was definitely not known for its writing, what with what I mentioned on >>6214280 about Magneto going through the exact same arc 3 different times in 3 different films.
That last part... yeah, the 90's show REALLY did Jean dirty in those aspects. Always tripping over something, moaning like she's orgasming and then fainting... she jobbed HARD. And now in X-Men '97, she's pregnant....
Anonymous3(2): @NobleR2096: After all that moaning and screaming her partner’s name she does, it’d be pretty freaking weird if she didn’t end up in pregger town.
Anonymous4(2): @NobleR2096: Well I guess she won’t be rushing into battle anytime soon since she’s expecting and I’m thinking she’ll probably be looking after little Cable after that or something. But with Xavier gone, she could be the support and sort of intelligence, communications, etc. that the team needs.
Anonymous5(2): @NobleR2096: I’ve heard stories about some women going into battle while pregnant, so if she does, that’s at least potentially cool albeit a bit weird and somewhat irresponsible.
On a different note, thoughts on the edit? I thought Jean/Apocalypse was a good enough enemy pairing to just slide right into the place of the original Wanda/Thanos version.
NobleR2096: The background is the inside of the X-Mansion in Charles' mindscape in the film, but with the blue hue to it changed to red. The glowing eyes are supposed to signify that she's currently using the Phoenix Force. The fire coming off of her was my best attempt at trying to imitate the Phoenix's fiery aura.
Anonymous6(2): @NobleR2096: You definitely got me thinking about the movie some more. Like I don’t remember Apocalypse having Jean on his radar all that much. Like all he cared about was Xavier or something and to him Jean was just some girl of not much interest that suddenly went OP and rocked his face off. I guess this coupling is gonna have to do though since there’s no Sinister or the lack of interaction with Hellfire Club.
I do like the fire. The X-Men films have always been kind of minimalist. Which works sometimes but other times like first Deadpool or the Phoenix, things aren’t as visually interesting as they could be. I’d actually love to couple some of these X films with a bit of Thor Ragnarok’s style. It’s actually kind of insane that it took this long for Wolvie to get a costume.
NobleR2096: @Anonymous: The coupling was kind of influenced by the fact that she defeated him, alongside him being in awe of the Phoenix's destructive power as he dies, pretty much calling her the "true" apocalypse by saying "all is revealed." Now I actually want to see a fic of these two...imagine if he were to die this time around because he can't handle a Phoenix Force-enhanced orgasm from her, just like he couldn't handle her power in the film and got stripped down to bone.
I also liked the contrast between their skin colors. And yes, it's mostly spawned from a lack of Sinister, but I think I like this rarepair more than what I could have done had he been in the films.
Anonymous7(2): @NobleR2096: I just wish there was more setup between the two so that confrontation felt like things were leading up to that. Like maybe he sensed her power and wanted her as one of his horsemen instead of Psylocke or Storm which never really felt like they belonged there. Or that he wanted that power for himself instead of Xavier. And trying to take it or control it, he realizes that he couldn’t. Well whatever, it’s pointless trying to fix a movie that’s already done and been released. Unless it’s Justice League. Also if she were a horsemen, it’d totally have to be Death for obvious reasons.
Anonymous8(2): @NobleR2096: I mean the dude really did just go around and was like “I guess you’ll do” when picking his lieutenants. But yes, a lot of these comic adaptations are wasted potential, the bad ones especially but even the better ones have some room for improvement. Which is whatever. I’m just glad if and when the stuff is good.
Anonymous9(2): @NobleR2096: It’s hovering around Last Stand for me. Slightly better imo. I compare the two because they both ride the coattails of pretty solid entries and should’ve been hype but were both sort of letdowns in ways.
NobleR2096: @Anonymous: Yeah, I'd probably rank it like that as well. At least it didn't try and juggle 2 storyline and completely fumble one of them in the process. I like Jean in both films in terms of character and appearance, but Sophie Turner in Apocalypse out-edges Famke in Last Stand for the simple fact that they're not butchering any of her important storylines in the film (alongside being curvier in appearance). I'd place First Class or DOFP at the top of the non-spinoff ladder, they're interchangeable just because of how good they are.
Anonymous10(2): @NobleR2096: Last Stand’s production sounded heavily compromised. I heard they wanted Matthew Vaughan for director after they couldn’t get Singer back but he felt like he couldn’t do it with the amount of time they’d given him. So they went with Ratner. Which begs the question why they felt the need to hurry the film out. Not suggesting they take Avatar 2 amount of time but the series is a money maker for them. Wouldn’t they want a quality thing instead of a rushed product? Honestly, Fox kinda pisses me off with some of their decision making. Not just with X-Men but Alien and Predator too. Not saying I’m happier that they’re with Disney now but at least Marvel feels less need to handicap an entire section of their IP.
NobleR2096: @Anonymous: Vaughn left because Fox wanted to dupe Halle Berry into coming back by writing in a fake scene with Storm saving children from a drought and then cutting it out after she signed on - after he saw that, he didn't want to do it anymore because he saw how scummy the Fox execs were
Anonymous11(2): @NobleR2096: I always heard it was time constraints. But than again people in the industry do sometimes use terms like creative differences or scheduling conflicts as a cover or spin as to why they’re not in a film. Although it makes me wonder why the guy would come back for First Class. I mean David Fincher hated his time working on Alien 3 but would still work with Fox on future projects so who knows?
NobleR2096: @Anonymous: First 2 episodes of X-Men '97 dropped.... and I was wrong, she gave birth in the 2nd episode... that ending, though.... was she replaced by Madelyne Pryor?
Anonymous12(2): @NobleR2096: Wouldn’t know. Haven’t seen them yet. Actually would need to back and watch the original series first just to know where I am going in.

Storm really did make no sense as a Horseman, she never was one in the comics, unlike Betsy.
